Karol J. Lanning, 72, of Marcellus passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 4, 2016. Born in Rockford, IL, she retired from Skaneateles Country Club as the Business Manager. She was a member of Morning Star Lodge #289 OES, where she held the honor of Matron 4 times. She was past District Deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star, past Grand Star Point and also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Ilderim No. 15.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Harold "Sparky" Lanning; sons Michael (Tara) Lanning and Thomas Lanning; grandchildren Evan, Rachel, Dylan and Kyle Lanning and great grandson Kaleb Lanning. She also leaves behind her siblings, Marlene (Kenneth Pennington) Carlson, Beverly (Jerry) Holm and Robert (Nancy) Carlson.
Services starting with an Eastern Star Service and Daughters of the Nile Service will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday February 13, at the Plis Funeral Home. Friends may call on the family prior to the services from 2-4:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Star Home, PO Box 959, Oriskany, NY 13424.
