Obituary for Elaine L. Carlton (Cuppernall)

Elaine L. Carlton of Marcellus passed away Thursday January 7, 2016. Born in Watertown, NY, she came to Syracuse after her high school graduation to complete her business certificate at C.C.B.I.. Shortly after moving, she met the love of her life James M. Carlton, who predeceased her in 1997.For many years Jim and Elaine enjoyed traveling the country when able, going as far as Hawaii. They also enjoyed entertaining family and friends often. Elaine was content, stating she felt lucky to have seen and done more in a short time than most people do in a lifetime.
Elaine is survived by her son, James (Andrea) Carlton of Marcellus; daughter Jennifer (William) Young of Marcellus; three granddaughters Alaina and Lauren Young and Jamie Carlton; and a sister Gretchen Schietzelt of Saratoga. She was also predeceased by a sister Diane.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all who gave their time and support to help Elaine over the years. Most recently the staff of The Commons at St. Anthony's in Auburn, and former Cayuga County Nursing Home, and to Patti Rossbach who has continued to visit and care for Elaine even after retirement.
Services for Elaine will be 7 p.m. Saturday January 9, at the Plis Funeral Home. Friends and family may call from 4-6:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
