Obituary for Raymond Joseph Glowacki

Raymond Joseph Glowacki, 89, of Auburn, NY, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at home as he wished, surrounded by his family.
Ray was born November 17, 1926 to Michael and Barbara Kasper Glowacki, who were immigrants from the Ukraine. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 255th Signal Corp as a telephone lineman helping to rebuild Germany. He often spoke of the children he would see in Germany and of giving them candy. He was employed by ALCO for 41 years as a machinist. He loved his job and took great pride in a job well done. He was a hardworking man that had a passion for woodworking, carpentry, gardening and his family. His family enjoyed the drawings that he did of "Kilroy". There weren't many projects he couldn't accomplish once he set his mind to it. One of his favorite things to do was find a diner with a good "burger".
He is the beloved father of Ted (Linda Alnutt) Glowacki of Auburn, Karen (Wayne) Stoesser of Oneonta, Jeanne (John, deceased) Scharett of Auburn, Sharon Krickovich of Auburn, and Pamela (John) Siracusa of Throop.
He is the beloved grandfather of Amy (Michael) Knobloch of Jacksonville, NC, Kimberly Glowacki (Our Angel), Eric (Melissa) Scharett of Rochester, Scott Jamie Scharett of Auburn, Joshua Krickovich of Auburn, Jaime (Jordan) Bastedo of El Paso, Tx and Kristi Alnutt of Auburn. He is also the beloved great grandfather of Ryan and Skylar Knobloch of Jacksonville, NC, Elisha an Ciana Scharett of Rochester and Gabriella and Aaron Scharett of Auburn. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ray was the youngest of thirteen children, John Joseph, Anna, Pauline, Mary, William, Michael, Harry, Sophie, Steven, Paul and Peter ( died in WW II) who have all passed on.
Friends are invited to call Sunday, January 10, from 3 to 5 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn. Services will be at 9 A.M. Monday from the funeral home, and 9:30 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Gentiva, especially Jen and Danielle for helping to keep our father at home and comfortable as he wanted.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family. He had an especially close bond with his son. He inspired in his children grandchildren a great love and devotion to him. Our first dog Ginger was always fondly remembered by Dad. "We love you dad, you will always be in our hearts."
