Obituary for John Durvett

John Durvett, 97, of Brewster, MA, formerly of Auburn, died peacefully Friday, October 23, 2015.
John was a native of Auburn. He was an Army veteran of WW II, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant, serving as a Cargo Security Officer. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with a Bronze service star.
John married his childhood sweetheart Ann Kokowsky. They left Auburn when John was a young man to pursue a successful fashion career. He was National Sales Manager, VP for Kayser Roth Intimate Apparel Division. They raised their family in Ridgewood, NJ, and following the death of his wife of 50 years in 1993, John moved to Osterville, MA. In his spare time John became an accomplished 3 handicap golfer.
John is survived by his daughter Denise Ann Boffoli of Marstons Mills, MA, his sons John Peter Durvett of Great Neck, NY and Dennis Paul Durvett of Centerville, MA, and their spouses, Ron, Lisa and Kim. Also surviving are six grandchildren Vala, Lisa, Cole, Matthew, Ethan and Daniel, his brother Metro Durvetsky of Auburn, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Durvett will be at 10 A.M. Friday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10:30 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
