Obituary for Richard L. Anthony

Richard L. Anthony, 71, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed into the Marine Corps Heavenly Unit on Saturday, January 10, 2015, following a lengthy illness, with his wife, grandson and close friend at his bedside.
Mr. Anthony was born in Aurelius, the son of the late Leo Anthony, and Thelma Huff Anthony Kidd. He resided in the Syracuse area all of his life until moving to Beckley in 2003. Sgt. Anthony served four years in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1968 including a tour in Viet Nam where he sustained his lifelong debilitating injuries. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of American Legion Post 32, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4469, both in Beckley.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Joan (Joanne) Walczyk Anthony of Beckley, his son Daniel (Joanna) Anthony of Jamesville, NY, grandson John Anthony of Beckley, his sister Joyce Harris of Preble, NY, several nieces, great nieces and cousins.
Services for Mr. Anthony will be private, and burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery in the spring, with full military honors. There are no calling hours.
