Dorothy Chapman Gambell, 90, of Syracuse passed away Wednesday April 23, 2014 at home. Born in Marcellus to the late Bert and Maria Chapman, she worked at GE and then was a secretary in the guidance office at the Marcellus Central Schools. Dorothy loved gardening and entered her flowers at the NYS Fair. She was a member of the Marcellus United Methodist Church and Tanner Valley Golf Course. She was a lover of cats. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years York Gambell in 2009.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Nancy (Eric) Nash of Columbia, MD and Carol Gambell of Ellicott City, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Dorothy will be 10 a.m. Saturday April 26 at the Plis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus. Friends may call on the family from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
