Obituary for Horace G. Ireland

Horace G. Ireland, 90, of Rose Hill passed away Friday January 3, 2014 at Loretto. Born April 19, 1923, to the late Frank and Maude Ireland, he worked for Branch Motor Express for 31 years retiring in 1985. Horace was a member of the US Army serving during WWII and was stationed in England, Africa and Italy. He was a member of the local, Pomona, state and national Grange. He was a past member of the Marcellus Town Planning and Zoning Board. He was also a member of the Thorn Hill Cemetery Association and the Second Baptist Church in Auburn. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2003.
Horace is survived by his children George (Noreen) of Cornville, AZ, Nancy Ireland of Syracuse, John (Cathy) of North Port, FL., and David (Diane) of Four Oaks, NC; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan 8 at Second Baptist Church, 1 N. Herman Ave., Auburn. Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday January 7 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Second Baptist Church or Rose Hill Baptist Church.
