Obituary for Walter Rakusch

Walter Rakusch, 86, of Auburn, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness.
Mr. Rakusch was a native of the Ukraine, and has resided in the Auburn area since 1947. He was a retired employee of ALCO, an active member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he was serving as an usher, and a former member of the Ukrainian National Club.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Naholnyk Rakusch, his son and daughter-in-law Jay and Anna Rakusch of Auburn, nieces and nephews Karen Sheftic Burns and Gary Sheftic of Auburn, and John Sheftic of Georgia, and grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Rakusch will be at 9:30 A.M. Thursday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
