Obituary for Charles D. Nelson

Charles D.  Nelson
Charles D. Nelson, 72, of Marietta passed away Friday September 2, 2016 at home. Born in Moravia, NY to the late Earl and Flora Nelson, he was a Syracuse Police Officer retiring in 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a member of the Amber Congregational Church. He also served in the US Army.
Charles is survived by his children, Jeffrey C. Nelson, Mark D.S. (Marie) Nelson, Lisa M. (Paul) Leubner, Heather Nelson, Kelly J. (Brent) Goodsell and Matthew C. (Cathy) Nelson, 16 grandchildren, Aaron, Audrey, Doug, Mitchell, Alyssa, Paul, Jr., Emily, Timothy, Nick, Stephanie, Natalie, Tiffany, Samuel, Benjamin, William and Daniel and 4 great grandchildren, Mason, Lance, Oliver and Waylon. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Jean Couch, Richard (Carolyn) Nelson, Jack (Eleanor) Nelson, Diana (Linwood) Bowen and Marleen Nelson along with sister-in-law Judy Nelson. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 32 years Linda Jo, brother Earl “Sonny” Nelson and brother-in-law Alfred Crouch.
Services for Charles will be at noon on Saturday September 10, at Amber Congregational Church. Calling hours will be from 10-noon prior to the service at the church, 2366 Otisco Valley Rd., Marietta, NY.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Amber Congregational Church.
