Obituary for Michael Deyneka

Michael Deyneka, 87, of Auburn, died Saturday, September 24, 2016. Mr. Deyneka was a native of Skaneateles, and has been a lifetime resident of the Auburn area.
He was a former member of the Auburn School District Custodial Staff, retiring in 2000. He also delivered the Penny Saver for many years. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, and was active for a number of years with the church C.Y.O. program, the Sandlot Baseball league, and Meals on Wheels. In earlier years he was an avid bowler. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and Syracuse University Sports.
He is survived by his wife Antonia Corbacio Deyneka, his daughter Marie (Joseph) Sadusky, and sons Michael (Melissa) and Matthew Deyneka, all of Auburn, and Mark Deyneka of Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, his sister Helen Bommersbach of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Deyneka will be at 10 A.M. Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn.
