Obituary for Hilda Bailey (Oetzel)
Hilda (Oetzel) Bailey of Syracuse passed away at home on September 29, 2016, at the age of 104. She was born on December 31, 1911, in Mannheim, Germany to the late Josef Oetzel and Paula (Oetzel) Nikolaus. She came to the U.S. in 1930 and married Joseph Bailey on January 26, 1934 in Syracuse, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, son John and daughter Hildegarde and her siblings Emil, Frieda and Karl. She is survived by son-in-law Rainer Leubner; grandchildren Ed (Annie) Leubner; Eric (Laura) Leubner; Lisa (Kevin) Cashman; great-grandchildren Eric Jr. and Max Leubner; Lauren and Sarah Cashman.
Hilda enjoyed the simple things in life; being outdoors, reading, cooking, baking and having family and friends over. The historian of the family; she meticulously recorded details of family and friends birthdays, weddings, etc. and without fail sent greeting cards to celebrate each one.
We would like to thank all of her caregivers for the compassionate care given to our Oma. They were like family to all of us.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Marcellus, NY.
