Maria Hlywa Fedyshyn, 90, of Auburn, died Saturday March 18, 2017 in the comfort of her home and with her family at her side.
Born in Petrina, Ukraine, she came to the Auburn area in 1947. She was retired from Westminster Manor. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Church. She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, gardening and her roses. Her family was most important to her.
She is survived by her daughter Diana (Michael) Stabile of Leonardtown, MD, her son William Fedyshyn of Auburn, and grandchildren Joanna and John Stabile and Todd Fedyshyn. She is also survived by her brother Michael Hlywa of Auburn, in-laws Carol and Alex Fedyshyn and Carolyn Hlywa, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Basyl Fedyshyn in 2008, her sister Anna Kinal and brothers William, Metro and Andrew Hlywa.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fedyshyn will be at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
Contributions may be made in her memory to SS Peter & Paul Church.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Finger Lakes for the care and comfort given to Mrs. Fedyshyn.
