Obituary for Rolf R. Ziegler
Rolf R. Ziegler, 89, of Marietta passed away peacefully Thursday April 20, 2017 at the Commons on St. Anthony. Born in Union City, NJ, to the late Carl and Agnes Seider Ziegler, he grew up in Germany from 1935-1947 before moving back to the states. He was a draftsman for L.A.B. Corp in Skaneateles for 44 years retiring in 1997. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
Rolf was kind-hearted, always willing to help out friends and neighbors. Always active, he loved walking on his property in the country and around the neighborhood. He enjoyed gardening and dearly loved all pets, especially his cat, Mickey.
He is survived by his son Herb (Terry) Ziegler; daughter Karen (Mark Petitte) grandchildren Carla (Paul) Hirt, Eric Ziegler, Diana (Frank) Orr and Lauren Marsh along with his great grandchildren Calvin Hirt and Isaiah Orr. Rolf was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Ursula in 2011.
Services for Rolf will be 7 p.m. Tuesday April 25, at the Plis Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may call on the family from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Rolf’s name.
