Anna Hlywa, 79, of Auburn, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at Auburn Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born in Pantna, Ukraine, the daughter of the late Stefan and Stefania Nyschit Mowczan. She has resided in the Auburn area since 1963. She was a nurse at Mercy Health & Rehab Center, Cayuga County Nursing Home, and in the office of Dr. Robert Kalet. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, and a member of the Organization for the Defense of Lemko Western Ukraine.
She is survived by her sons George (Mary) Hlywa of Kendall Park, New Jersey, and Mark Hlywa of Auburn, her daughter Mary (Mark) Melnyk of Southington, Connecticut , and her grandsons Luka and Roman, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brothers Myron and Peter Mowczan of New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother John Mowczan.
Funeral services for Anna will be at 9:30 A.M. Monday from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St., Auburn
