Obituary for Blaine D. Moody (Moody)

Blaine Dennis Moody, 83, of Auburn, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, NY, following an extended illness.
Blaine was a native of North Carolina, the son of the late Dr. L. Dennis and Mildred Bowen Moody. He was a graduate of Bowling Green (Ohio) University, and taught school in Illinois for two years. He was a member of the English Faculty at Cayuga Community College (ACC) from 1961 until his retirement in 2007.He served on several committees at the college including chairing the Middle States Committee. He served as advisor to the Cayuga Collegian and his staff won several awards, He was named a lifetime member of College Media.
He was a former member of the Seymour Library and the Cayuga County Arts Council. He played drums in the Skaneateles Community Band and the Auburn Civic Band. He loved “Big Band” music and believed that nothing worthwhile was written after the Big Band era.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Androsko Moody, his daughters Elaine George (Timothy) of Auburn and Karen Moody of Richmond, VA, his grandson Joseph Prue of Rochester, and his brother B. Edward Moody of Alabama. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Barbara Moody and sister-in-law Maria.
Friends are invited to call Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St.
