Harold A. “Smitty” Smith, 94 of Syracuse formerly of the Cortland area passed away Monday November 13, 2017 at home. Smitty was the oldest of six children born to the late John and Florence (Bennett) Smith, he graduated from DeRuyter High School, where he was the only male in his graduating class. After high school he started his life long career as a shoe salesman working for several local shoe stores finally retiring from Rochester Shoes in Syracuse.
He is survived by his daughters Katrina (James) McCall and Michele Romano, and grandchildren Elizabeth Smith, Patrick Turner, Anthony Romano, Nicholas Romano and Matthew White. He also leaves behind his brothers Howard “Bobby” And Raymond “Bud” Smith. He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Hollister wife Dorothy Plumpton Smith, sisters Alice and Jessie and brother Leo.
Service and burial will be private for the family on Cole Hill Cemetery, Beaver Meadows, NY.
