Obituary for John Zamniak

John Zamniak, 79, of Forest Hill Drive, Auburn, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home.
Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Harry and Catherine Bab Zamniak. John was a graduate of Auburn Central High. He was a Navy veteran, serving his country for 4 years. He was employed by General Electric and retired from Powerex. He was an avid reader, enjoyed his time at casinos and was a New York Yankees and New England Patriots fan. He was a member of Swietoniowski-Kopeczek Post 1324 American Legion, and a past member of the Ukrainian National Club.
John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Sandy, three sons Mark (Karen) Zamniak of Auburn, Todd (Lori) Zamniak and Scott Zamniak of Florida, grandchildren Lindsey Zamniak of Florida, Jaimie Zamniak Galante and her husband Chris of Baldwinsville, Trenton, Trevor, Skylar and Zachary Zamniak of Florida, his three sisters Katie Bilinski, Olga Mosley and Helen DelFavero all of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Anna Rausset, Mary Panko, Sophie Bellnier and Pearl Fallat, and three brothers Steve, Nicholas and Harry Jr.
Funeral services for John will be at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 10 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Military Honors.
Friends are invited to call Friday, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home 220 State St.
