Antoinette "Ann"  Emperato (Spinelli)
Antoinette “Ann” Emperato, 82, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Commons on St. Anthony, following a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease.
Ann was born in Buffalo, NY, to the late Veto and Philamena Spinelli. She grew up in Auburn and worked for many years at Cayuga Community College Bookstore, and also volunteered her time tutoring students over the years. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Auburn Memorial Hospital for several years. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her beloved dog Sasha.
Ann is survived by her son Darrin Emperato (Kim) of Auburn, her daughter Sandra Spice of Nevada, and her sister Phyllis Bryant of Auburn. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jill, Lacy, and Audra Spice, and Brandon Emperato (Casey), her great grandson Everett Emperato, several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend and former husband of 40 years, Michael Emperato.
In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her son Michael Emperato and her sisters Ann Franklin and Rose Schafer and brothers Peter and Luke Spinelli.
The family wished to thank the staff at Westminster Manor and the Commons on St. Anthony for the care and comfort they gave Ann over the past several years.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday starting at noon at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn. Funeral services will follow at 1:45 P.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
