Obituary for Michael William Pinchak

Michael William "Mick" Pinchak, 61, of Jordan, NY, peacefully went into the arms of Our Lord Sunday April 27, 2014 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, with his favorite nurse at his side. He fought courageously against Pulmonary Fibrosis for the past year and a half.
"Mick" also known as "Bubba" was the eldest son of Michael and June Schultz Pinchak of Throop. He was a 1971 graduate of Port Byron High School and attended Cayuga Community College for engineering, before being drafted into the Armed Forces. He served in the Air Force from July 1973 to July 1977, and was with the Army Reserves the following year.
Mickey worked as a mechanical designer for McQuay International and prior to that for Black Clawson/Davis Standard in Fulton. He was an original member of the infamous Norton's Softball team, loved riding motorcycles, shooting pool, genealogy, and treasured his time with family, especially his nieces and nephews, by whom he was loved dearly, and will be greatly missed.
He met his wife Marlene when they were about 7 years old; childhood friends who loved to throw dead fish at each other while at Fair Haven Beach with their parents. They married on September 27, 1980, and had almost 34 years of happiness together, and renewing their vows for their 30th anniversary. He was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring husband, father, friend and uncle. He coached Little League in Auburn, and Soccer in Fulton. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a master at teaching his children the art of sarcasm.
He is survived by his wife Marlene (Jones) Pinchak, his son Michael of Jordan, his daughters Laina (Chris) Stupp of Hannibal, Dia Nowakowski and Veronica Pinchak of Jordan, his sisters Patricia Rose, and Kathleen Ross of Auburn and Lori (Joel) Horner of Elbridge, and his brother Steve (Maria) Pinchak of Auburn. Also surviving are his grandchildren Tyler and Emily, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends Jerry (Olga) Ashby and Larry McLoud.
Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Friday, at the Plis Funeral Home, and 10:30 A.M. in SS Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home, 220 State St.
