Obituary for Ruth B. Oliver

Ruth Bussey Oliver, 91, passed away peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough, Maine on April 25, 2013. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Marcellus New York and recently of Westbrook Maine. Ruth was born on May 21, 1921, in Syracuse, NY. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Marcellus and of the Marcellus Historical Society. Ruth's love of all things historical was a gift that she passed on to her children and grandsons.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Hugh M. Oliver, a daughter, Sharon Oliver Miller, a son, Kenneth R. Oliver, her parents Ralph and Iola Bussey, and daughter in law, Francine Oliver.
She is survived by sons, James B. Oliver and wife Pat of Bear, Delaware, Clifford H. Oliver, of Hartford, CT, and Steven M. Oliver and wife Joy of Westbrook, Maine. Grandsons Brian Oliver, Jon Oliver, Mark Mateer, Rodney Vincent, Nathaniel Oliver, and Noah Oliver and 6 great grandchildren.
Services for family and close friends will be at 10 a.m. Saturday May 4 at Plis Funeral Home 33 North St. Marcellus, New York with a graveside service to follow at Highland Cemetery in Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Marcellus or to the Marcellus Historical Society.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Foreside Harbor for the loving care they provided to Ruth.
